So stimmst du
- Stimmung
- Standard, Halbton tiefer (Es As des ges b es1), Ganzton tiefer, Drop D, Drop C, DADGAD, Open G, Open D und Open E. Die Saitentasten passen sich automatisch an.
- Auto
- Das Stimmgerät erkennt selbst, welche Saite du anschlägst.
- Manuell
- Chromatisch
- Zeigt jeden beliebigen Ton, z.
- Sprache
- Deutsch oder Englisch. Die Tonnamen wechseln mit:
Deutsch Englisch Saiten E A d g h e1 E2 A2 D3 G3 B3 E4 Kammerton a1 A4 Halbtöne cis, es, fis, gis, b C♯, E♭, F♯, G♯, B♭ - Pegelanzeige
Guitar Tuner
The tuner runs right in your browser, on a computer as well as on iPhone and Android. It listens through the microphone and shows whether a string is flat, sharp or in tune.
How to tune
Tap Start microphone and allow microphone access. Pluck a string and turn the tuning peg until the needle sits in the green centre and the strobe stripes stand still. Standard tuning is E2 A2 D3 G3 B3 E4, from the lowest to the highest string.
Dial
- Tuning fork A4
- Tap to play A4 as a sustained tone, like a real tuning fork. Tap again to stop. Use − and + to set the reference pitch between 415 and 466 Hz. 440 Hz is the usual value. All string pitches follow the reference pitch.
- Note name
- Shows the detected note or string, e.g. E2, D3 or E4.
- Needle
- Shows the deviation from the target note in cents. 100 cents make one semitone. Left means flat, right means sharp. The green zone in the middle matches the tolerance setting. When the needle is inside it, the dial lights up green.
- Strobe
- The finest display. Stripes moving left mean flat, stripes moving right mean sharp. The faster they move, the bigger the deviation. When they stand still, the string is exactly in tune.
- Hint
- Tells you in words what to do: “tighten string”, “loosen string” or “In tune”.
Bar above the strings
- Tuning
- Standard, Half step down (E♭2 A♭2 D♭3 G♭3 B♭3 E♭4), Whole step down, Drop D, Drop C, DADGAD, Open G, Open D and Open E. The string buttons update automatically.
- Auto
- The tuner detects which string you are playing.
- Manual
- Tap the string you want to tune. The tuner then measures against that note only. Useful when a string is far out of tune.
- Chromatic
- Shows any note, e.g. F♯ or B♭. Also suitable for other instruments or voice.
- String tones
- When switched on, tapping a string button plays its pitch as a sustained tone, so you can tune by ear: turn the peg until the wavering between the two tones disappears. Tap again to stop, or tap another string to switch to it.
Strings
The six buttons show the strings from the lowest (E2) to the highest (E4), each with its frequency in Hz. The vertical line on the left suggests the string gauge. The detected or selected string is highlighted in orange, and strings that are in tune get a ✓.
Settings
- Sensitivity
- Normal for loud rooms, High for most situations, Max for very quiet rooms or softly plucked strings.
- Tolerance
- Sets how close a string must be to count as in tune: ±1, ±2, ±3 or ±5 cents. ±1 cent is very precise, ±5 cents is enough for quick tuning.
- Language
- German or English. Note names change with the language:
German English Strings E A d g h e1 E2 A2 D3 G3 B3 E4 Reference pitch a1 A4 Accidentals cis, es, fis, gis, b C♯, E♭, F♯, G♯, B♭ - Level meter
- The thin bar shows how loud the microphone hears the sound. The line inside it marks the threshold above which a note is detected.
Start microphone / Stop
Turns the microphone on and off. The first time, your browser asks for permission. While the microphone is running, the screen stays on. All settings are saved in your browser and are back on your next visit.
Notes
On iPhone, the silent switch must be off to hear the tuning fork and the string tones. If you accidentally block the microphone, you can allow it again in your browser settings (iPhone: Settings → Safari → Microphone).
